It’s pretty common for even the most hardcore gamers to get bored with their favourite pastime after a while. Sometimes, it feels like you’ve seen everything there is to see, and there’s nothing new to pull you back in. When this happens, if you want to reignite your passion for gaming, there are a number of things you can do to make gaming more fun. Here are some ideas:
Try a New Console
If you’re bored of your Xbox, why not try a new platform like the Nintendo Switch or an old classic like the NES instead? The game-play will be a bit different to what you’re used to, and you’ll find titles that weren’t available on your favourite console. Hopefully, this will be enough to renew your passion for gaming and get you back in front of the screen again.
Switch Up Your Hardware
You can buy a mechanical keyboard under 50 pounds and a competition controller for under 40, and you’d be surprised how much the gaming experience can be improved by simply switching your current hardware for something that has been designed with serious gaming in mind. You’ll be able to do more and do better, and that will get you interested again.
Try a VR Headset
Virtual reality is starting to get big right now, and it’s pretty much impossible to not enjoy the experience, except perhaps if you have an eye condition which means that the technology doesn’t work well for you. The great thing about VR headsets is that they give you a totally immersive experience that is different to anything you’ve tried before. It really does bring the fun back into gaming.
Enter a Competition
If you’re bored of playing the same few friends online, and you just don’t get the kind of challenge you’re looking for, entering a gaming competition could be just the thing to make you fall in love with your favourite titles again. If you’re really good, you could even go pro and start earning money from your hobby.
Try New Titles
If you always play first person shooters, why not try switching it up by trying a title that you would never usually have looked twice at? There are so many brilliant creative games out there now that you might just be surprised by what you find and discover a whole new genre to keep you occupied for the next few months.
Have a Go at Live Streaming
Live streaming your game-play can be great fun, especially if you’re really good at a particular game or have a lot of fun talking about your play with friends. Using a platform like Twitch, you can show off your stuff and even make money, if your streams build up a following. You’ll probably make a few good friends along the way too.
Do Something Else
If gaming really isn’t doing anything for you, going away and doing something else, perhaps checking out drones or trying board games, for a while, could help you to appreciate games more when you inevitably come back to them. You’ll be less burnt out, and the games will feel fresher.
